For The Record
†---------------------------------------------------------------†
†Personality:
Being younger than everyone else in a competitive magickal university has left Charlotte mature beyond her years, and in possession of a desire to always assert her maturity. She can seem like a thirty year old in a young girl’s body, though there are moments when she mispronounces something or in some other way reminds you that she is still a teenager.
From growing up as an only child, and being praised often by her parents, she can be very egocentric and has a sense of entitlement that borders on downright brattiness. She can be quite impatient, as she’s become used to learning things without much effort. However, for all her faults she is kind at heart and very open minded about people.
†Weapon(s):
-None, though she will soon make her own staff (see Back story)
†Power/s:
-Mysticism : Journeyman/Expert, (she can cast some Expert spells, but not many)
-Alteration : Journeyman, (she’s a little shaky on opening locks, but is very good at shielding herself)
-Destruction: Journeyman, (she’s just learning disintegration spells)
-Illusion: Apprentice/Journeyman, (she can cast a reasonable chameleon spell, but can’t turn herself invisible or paralyze someone yet)
-Alchemy: Apprentice/Journeyman (she has an apprentice’s pestle and mortar and her own novice calcinator)
-Restoration: Apprentice, (she can heal herself of major wounds and heal others of minor wounds)
-Conjuration: Novice/Apprentice, (she always found summoning creatures a bit disgusting)
-Other: Can cast the ‘Dragon skin’ protective spell.
†Weaknesses:
- Her Star Sign’s weakness to magicka.
- Physically she’s not very fit.
- Apart from her destruction training she’s had no combat training.
- Her overconfidence means she often over-estimates her abilities.
- Similarly, sometimes her attempts to seem capable mean she takes on more than she can handle.
†Talent/s:
- Her particular aptitude for Mysticism magicka.
- Large amounts of magicka means she can use spell after spell without running out.
- Her intelligence means she learns fast.
- She knows how to use her cute appearance to charm people into doing what she wants, although she would rarely manipulate people for a purely selfish reason.
†Mother:
Madeline Saxe, the daughter of a middle class family who married quite young. She’s a confidant woman, but feels she didn’t get enough done before she got married, and so encouraged Charlotte to pursue her magical talents. She works with her husband in their shop.
†Father
Philippe Saxe, who’s normally quite quiet and introverted, except in haggling, in which case he always gets the better end of the deal. His family wasn’t particularly well off but he made plenty of money as a travelling merchant before settling down with Madeline to run a clothing store.
†Siblings:
She had none up until three years ago when her parents had another child, a boy named Florian. He was born under the Tower, and as yet shows no sign of being magically inclined. Unfortunately Charlotte hasn’t had much chance to get close to him, since he’s back in High Rock with her family.
†Pets:
A huge, fat cat called Jasper who she ‘adopted’ while at the Leyawin guild.
†History:
Charlotte was born in High Rock to a wealthy merchant family, and from early on showed a talent for magicka, in particular Mysticism magic, and her parents were eager to encourage this. By the age of thirteen she was well known around their small town as a precocious, if a little boastful, child.
However, by this time Charlotte was starting to get bored of her mother’s home-teaching, as there were many spells she could have performed if her magicka had been bigger. So her mother took her to Cyrodil, to make her an Associate of the mages’ guild and get her some more advanced training.
After that, Charlotte spent two years with the Leyawin mages guild, who specialise in Alteration, learning how to increase her magicka and use it to her best advantage. Initially she missed her home and parents terribly, as High Rock was hardly a stone’s throw from Cheydinhal. However, she soon acclimatised to life in Cyrodil, deliberately training herself out of her High Rock accent and getting stuck into her training. She also became quite close to Dagail, learning how to deal with her visions and getting to know her well.
When she was fifteen, Agata suggested trying to get recommendations from all the guild halls so she could enter the Arcane University. As she was a few years younger than most of the apprentices there, she had to work extra hard to prove herself, but with Agata’s help she got her recommendations, and for three years Charlotte has been at the University. She’s due to make her own staff quite soon, and thinks she’ll probably make one with a Mysticism enchantment.
†RP Sample:
((I may well use this in the forum))
The Imperial City was a busy place, and the market district was no exception. In fact, save for the Arena, it was one of the most bustling areas, since people came not only locally to buy groceries, but from all over Cyrodil. There was such a variety of different stores, and if you couldn’t get what you needed in your own town then you came to the City to get it.
Small as she was, Charlotte had to be careful not to be trodden on as she left the Gilded Carafe with a basketful of fresh alchemy ingredients. Living in the city for three years meant she knew when were the best times to go ingredient shopping before anyone else snaffled them up. Among the everyday stuff like alkanet flower and primrose seeds, there was also some Lady’s Mantle leaves, an ingredient she had yet to try.
As she walked along she tore a tiny piece off the leaf and put it on her tongue. Such a small amount meant any properties of an ingredient would have very little effect, but it was just enough for someone trained in alchemy to detect the different properties.
Tasting it was something of a self-imposed test, as Charlotte was just learning to recognise the third properties of ingredients. In the leaf, she could recognise the easier-to-spot effects like the health restoral, but was still having trouble detecting the night eye effect that she was told this ingredient had. She tasted it once more for luck, but still couldn’t feel it. She sighed irritatedly. Well, she could always use it for something else. Come to think of it, she had some Cairn Bolete caps back at the university. She could make a health restorative. Yes, that’s what she’d do...
Distracted by her thoughts she quite forgot to look where she was going and walked right into someone, spilling the contents of her basket to the ground.
“Mara...!” she cursed, squinting up at whoever she’d bumped into.
