Name:Valaras Icemoan
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Race: Dumer/Dark Elf
BirthSign: The Lady
Hair Color/Style: Valaras's hair is pure, shock white, and long. To avoid it falling all over his face and shoulders, it is tied into a type pf top knot ponytail.
Eye color: Red
Skin Tone: Light Blue
Guild/Facion Part of: Mage's Guild
Likes:
Magic: Valaras' top priorty in life is to amass as much magical power and knowledge as possible in his life time. To him, it is more then a hobby; it is a way of life. He can often be found cooped up in a library studying texts or scrolls.
Alchemy: Valaras enjoys mixing together various ingredients to see what kind of potions he can create. He cares little how they are used or what they are used for, but his knowledge in them is extensive.
Herbalism: An interest that intersects with Alchemy, Valaras finds it soothing to tend to his garden of various herbs, both with medicinal and magical properties. He is also well versed in poisonous plants.
Artifacts: This could also tie into Valaras' interest in magic. He is an avid collecter of rings, scrolls, weapons, and many other magically imbued items created from past civilisations. The reason this is NOT listed under magic is because he also takes an interest in artifacts of a non-magical nature.
Dislikes
Orcs: Valaras is not fond of the green skinned people, not because he finds them disgusting, but because he believes they are stupid and ignorant. He has never met an Orc who showed an interest in magic, and some who even disclaim it as evil or dishonest. This makes him generalize the whole race. However, he would not be so blind as to ignore any of an Orc's positive qualities.
Alcohol: Valaras cannot stand the stench or taste of ale, mead, or any strong alcoholic beverage brewed from hops or barely. It makes him sick to his stomache, and is quite sensative to these things. He does not, however, mind a good bottle of wine.
Crowded Places: Valaras hates the din and noise of a crowded room. He finds it hard to concentrate, and he can get headaches if there is enough noise. He prefers more quiet places, such as a study or single room.
Over Friendliness: If someone is not familiar with someone else, they should not greet each other as best friends. Valaras is wary and distrustful by nature, and as such, always gets to know people well before adopting such a stance; people who greet you as a friend on first meeting should be distrusted.
Turn Ons:
Intelligence: Valaras finds intelligence and knowledge attractive in people, and is a trait he considers important.
Maturity: Valaras both respects and is attracted to mature people who can handle themselves properly and respectfully.
Turn Offs:
Stupidity: The ignorant but cheerful person is of no attraction to Valaras. As a man of learning and knowledge, he finds the lack of both deplorable.
Immaturity: The inability to carry oneself properly in any situation disgusts Valaras to no end, especially in times of great stress or problematic situations.
Nervous Habits:
Finger Drumming: Valaras tends to strum or drum his fingers on various objects like table tops or book covers when he is anxious or impatient.
Robe Shaking: If he is under stress or flustered, Valaras tends to shake his robe sleeves somewhat, as if airing them out, or patting down his robes.
Girl/Boyfriend: Currently none
Friends: Currently none
Rivals: Arch-Mage Traven (someone he wishes to surpass. Traven is unaware of this ambition.)
Fears:
Losing the Gift: Valaras fears losing magic; it has been his life's pursuit, and to lose the ability to perform it would void his life's purpose.
Theft: The Dunmer Mage fears the theft of any or all of his collections of artifacts or books. He has worked quite some time to accumalate these objects, and to have them pilfered or plundered would be a disaster.
Job: Mage's Guild Journeyman (Alchemist and Herbs Specialist)
Weapon/s:
Mage's Staff: Valaras' Mage Staff was crafted specifically for him, and has the ability to shoot forth lightning. However, there are not many charges on it, so the Dunmer Mage keeps it as a last resort weapon.
Steel Dagger: When his magic has failed him and it comes to close quarters combat, Valaras resorts to the knife hidden in his robe sleeve. With a flick of a wrist, he can slip the knife into his hand.
Powers:
Destruction: Valaras is highly skilled at Destruction magic, able to shoot bolts of lightning, balls of far, and ice bolts with relative ease. However, he has not learned any overally powerful spells due to the restrictions of his rank in the guild.
Illusion: This is Valaras' minor in spell expertise, but is not to be underestimated. He is good at not being seen when he does not want to be, and at fooling the eyes or minds of a foe. He is, however, less versed in this area then in Destruction.
Weaknesses: Physical Frailty: Valaras is not built like a rock; he is quite vunerable to physical atacks, especially because he does not wear armor.
Appearance: Note: I am using the appearance of "Kuroda Kanbei" from the hit series Samurai Warriors. Be that as it may, he is NOT said character.

Valaras' hair is pure shock white, although he is not that old. His hair is long, but is tied up in a top knot like ponytail, and so does not appear as long as it is. His skin is unusually light for a Dunmer, attributed to the lack of out door time he gets. His face is always set in a stern, somber expression, handsome but brooding. He is almost never seen smiling, and when he does, it looks sinister and unpleasant. He is quite thin, due to his light diet and lack of physical activity. His red eyes are very secretive in nature, and it is difficult to tell what he is feeling.
Valaras' robes are mostly black, an unsual choice of attire for those who practice magic in the Mage's Guild. Over the black robes he wears a decorative pattern that depicts a snaking dragon. He also wears shoulder pads and a strange chest piece made of cloth, his idea of fashion. The robes are short sleeved, allowing him to easily conceal small objects, and yet not flutter about when he walks or when the wind blows.
Personality:
Valaras has been described as unfriendly, cynical, and condescending. He does not mix well with people, especially those who are lacking in intelligence or who act overly friendly. He can be condescending to his lower ranked Guild mates, and seldom shows respect to his superiors....when they aren't around. He is distrustful by nature, having witnessed much dishonesty from people in his life. When magic is the topic, however, Valaras seems to become more tolerable and able to talk to, his way being excited. He is also a bookworm, often capable of reading for hours straight. He is shrewd, intelligent, and coldly calculating, not afraid to use people to achieve his end goals.
Father: Avariss Icemoan(Killed by Bandits)
Mother: Gallievo Icemoan(illness)
Sibling/s: Only Child
History/Past:
Valaras was born into a middle class merchant family in the Imperial City. His father was a trader of cloths and silks, and his mother had come from a rich back ground. When Valaras was born about three years after their marriage, a dark cloud was covering the city, and he did not cry, almost making his parents believe he was a still born. But the child was healthy and well, and he grew up to be a very sharp and calculating individual, assisting his father in his bussiness. While he was in this line of work, he witnessed many ugly qualities that people possessed and portrayed; greed, corruption, dishonesty. These things disheartened him, and his view of humanity and the world became cold and bitter, his heart like ice. So, instead of socializing with people his community, he locked himself away and took solace in books, particularly those of a magical nature. When both his parents passed on, he enrolled in the Arcane University, and was accepted due to a surprising gift for the art of magic.
He would have advanced far in the Guild were it not for his dark, distrustful nature; he was extremely talented, and he absorbed the teachings like a sponge. However, he often did not get along with his peers, even straining the patience of his instructors and superiors. He believed he was far more intelligent then any of them, even if his knowledge was more lacking then theirs. As such, he has only achieved the rank of Journeyman in the guild, and is seen as a problamatic eccentric. Even to this day, Valaras toils at his studies, yearning for more knowledge, for more power. What he plans to do with this power once he has achieved it is unknown.
RP Sample:
The room was dark and musty, the smell of old books filled the room, a pungent stench. Many would consider the odor unpleasant, even revolting if they were sensative to it. To Valaras, however, it was a wonderful smell, because the source of the odor was a wellspring of knowledge, knowledge that he had yet to tap into. Even now, the dark elf sat in the corner, a half melted candle dimly lighting the book he was reading, a book on Illusion based spells. So entranced was he, so absorbed, that the hours flew by, and he payed no heed to his bodily needs, such as food and water. It was not unusual for him to do so; the Dunmer was known by the University as "The Sour Bookworm" for both his nasty disposition and his love of books. A nervous knock sounded on the door, and Valaras looked up, an unpleasent snarl painted on his face.
"What is it?!"
A nervous looking Apprentice entered the room, a bowl of beef stew and a glass of water on a tray. The poor fool had no idea just how nasty Valaras could be. One man who had interrupted his studies, bursting into the room with a warm greeting and a friendly smile, he quickly ran from said room chased by a fire ball. He advanced slowly and carefully, so slowly that it irritated the Dunmer Mage. He strummed his fingers against the spine of the book he was reading, staring down the poor bastard with his red, piercing gaze. Finally, he gave an exasperated sigh. At the very least, the poor man had thought to bring him food. He motioned to the Apprentice to walk over, and the poor man gave a sigh of relief.
"Just put it over there, I'll get to it later."
